Tarō Higa Papers, 1944-1964

Thomas Tarō Higa, a Hawaiian-born Kibei, was born in 1916. He was a member of the 100th Infantry Battalion. The collection consists of documents of Higa's speech tour (1944) sponsored by the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), photocopies of newspaper articles written by Higa and a copy of a privately printed pamphlet by Yasusato Sadao on the clothing relief drive for Okinawa in Hawaii titled (1964). The Japanese American Research Project (originally named the Issei History Project) was initiated by Wakamatsu Shigeo, President of the Japanese American citizens League (JACL) in 1960.
